Parks and Trails
Cycling Pasadena City
Get your wheels spinning in Pasadena and explore the city by bicycle.
Trails
Nestled in the hills of California that surround our culture-rich city are nature trails that snake their way up and through the rolling fields and bring adventurers to sky-high views of Pasadena. Not looking for such a trek? We have easy bike routes that bring city riders through an easy loop around our parks and one of our iconic structures.
Rose Bowl Three Mile Loop
Length: 3.1 miles
Difficulty: Easy
Trail Type: Loop
For an approachable and relaxing bike ride in town, take the Rose Bowl Three Mile Loop that brings riders around the Rose Bowl and slingshots around Brookside Golf and Country Club. The scenic, simple ride makes for an easy workout and offers views of the nearby San Gabriel Mountains.
Note that this is a popular location and frequently hosts fundraiser walks and runs, so it may not always be available.
Hahamogna Watershed Park
If mountain biking is more your speed, Hahamogna Watershed Park has 5 trails that are open to motorized alternative. Four of these trails are loops, minus the out-and-back layout of the Gould Mesa Trail. Opt for easy trails with the Hahamongna Watershed North Loop, Oak Grove Park Loop, or Hahamongna Watershed South Loop. Or try out their moderate difficulty trails: Gould Mesa and Devils Gate via Flint Canyon.
Explore the Arroyo Seco Trail System
The Arroyo Seco is a 22-mile reserve, featuring a large city-long trail system, picnic areas, nature preserves, and more in Pasadena. The large winding trails that connect you with nature in its purest form are a great way to explore the natural beauty of our city.
Note that a city ordinance prohibits the use of bicycles on any unpaved trails that make up the large system of paths.
Union Street Protected Bike Lane
Though not a typical cycling trail, our Union Street protected bike lane gives you the chance to ride through our downtown with ease on a bike. The two-way lane stretches from S Hill Ave to S Arroyo Pkwy, with additional protected lanes with the Holliston Avenue bicycle boulevard.
Biking Groups
Exploring is always more fun with an adventuring party. Join a local group and keep consistent with loyal fellow cyclists, or take a one-of-a-kind tour of Pasadena on your bike. Whether it’s a community you’re looking for or a little off-beat exploration, try these Pasadena biking groups.
Bikes and Hikes
Bikes and Hikes, a local touring organization, offers tourists the opportunity to take tours throughout the city by bike. These 2-hour tours bring guests through a looping journey in the city. Tickets are required to take part in the event, which you can purchase online through their website.
Pasadena Athletics Association Biking Club
If you call Pasadena your home and want to stay more consistent with your cycling or are just looking for like-minded people, the Pasadena Athletics Association hosts an active biking club. In addition to regular rides, the social club hosts themed treks, such as happy-hour rides, meet-and-greets, and women's rides. Stay up to date on their themed rides and find a time to join via their PAA Biking Club Instagram page.
Pasadena Cycling Competitions
We love to celebrate cyclists and athletes in city-wide competitions that cheer on the talented and skilled riders of all ages. Toss your hat in the ring and get your helmets on with these cycling races.

The annual event brings together senior citizens in a series of athletic competitions during the weekend-long event.
