Pasadena's only gay bar, The Boulevard Bar, was established in 1979 and provides a judgement free zone filled with dragulous energy. There's karaoke every night and drag queens will slay the stage with an array of performances on Friday Night Drag, hosted by Borgia Bloom with her girls. Every Sunday, hot bears and cold beers are in the BearGarden at The Boulevard.
CITY OF PASADENA PRIDE
All are welcome in Pasadena, where The City of Pasadena proudly raises the Pride Flag at City Hall. The special flag was designed by non-binary artist Daniel Quasar and made by San Diego-based Pride Flag SD, followed by a series of interactive and family friendly events. In historic Old Pasadena, visitors will experience the district’s powerful “commUNITY” campaign and “All Are Welcome” messaging while enjoying romantic and diverse shopping and dining experiences.
In October, SGV Pride will celebrate National Coming Out day with a celebration at Pasadena's Central Park, with the historic Castle Green and the majestic San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop.
In 2014, a gay couple exchanged wedding vows on a wedding cake float as part of the Tournament of Roses Parade. The theme that year was "Dreams Come True" and wedding was televised and widely reported. It was the first time a same-sex couple had been married at the Rose Parade, marking a historic moment that prompted cheers and complaints alike. That year, some TV stations cut away from the float. Because of this, Pasadena was named second on Advocate's 2014 list of Gayest Cities in America.
