The Mother Road
Route 66, also known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, holds a special place in the hearts of travelers worldwide. Established in 1926 as one of the original highways in the US Highway System, this historic route stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica, connecting cities, towns, and communities along its path. Colorado Boulevard's 150 Anniversary
In 2026, Colorado Boulevard will mark its 150th anniversary since the opening of a general store and post office in 1876 at its intersection with Fair Oaks Avenue. Throughout the mid-20th century, it functioned as a primary thoroughfare for travelers. Along this historic route, numerous landmarks stand, including the renowned Pasadena Playhouse, one of the oldest and most esteemed theaters in the nation, and the iconic Pasadena City Hall, a distinguished representation of Mediterranean Revival architecture. Cheeseburger Week
Cheeseburger Week returns at the end of January to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the invention of the cheeseburger in Pasadena. Hosted by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, Cheeseburger Week is extra special this year with a Cheeseburger Passport.

Pasadena Chalk Festival
Over 500 visual artists from greater Los Angeles and Southern California will create spectacular murals of all kinds for thousands of attendees. This unique public art event will salute the anniversaries of Route 66 and Colorado Boulevard with 3D-effect centerpiece murals connecting the festival with the Classic Car Show, sponsored by the Pasadena Police Department.

LitFest Pasadena
LitFest in the Dena is an annual literary arts event that gathers together writers and book lovers to hear panel discussions, readings and engage in workshops on a variety of topics. The highly diverse conference will feature a special discussion focusing on the Route 66 historical narrative and its symbolism of freedom and the pursuit of the American dream.

Gamble House Car Series
In celebration of the Route 66 Centennial, The Gamble House is hosting a special series honoring America's vibrant car culture. Experience the spirit of freedom, innovation, and design that made Route 66 a national legend. As a National Historic Landmark and a masterpiece of the American Arts and Crafts Movement, The Gamble House provides the perfect setting to reflect on this golden era of design and exploration.

Pasadena Doo Dah Parade
The 47th Annual Doo Dah Parade will bring its creative frolicking to the streets of Old Pasadena on Sunday, November 22nd. Having established a widespread reputation as ‘The Other Parade’, the 2026 Parade will salute the anniversaries of Route 66 and Colorado Boulevard by bringing the ‘Little Ol’ Lady of Pasadena’ back to life in front of thousands of Parade-goers. The 1964 Jan & Dean hit made “the terror of Colorado Boulevard” a pop culture phenomenon.

The Route 66 Centennial Commission Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by the President which created a commission to recommend activities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Route 66
