  • A Little Bit of Paradise

Visitors can experience the beautiful historic neighborhood of Bungalow Heaven as they stroll through Pasadena’s first Landmark District.  During the self-guided tour, guests will be invited to view the interiors of several homes with docent led commentaries.  They will also be treated to demonstrations of restoration work, music, and refreshments.  Food trucks will be on hand for those who wish to purchase lunch.

    Tucked in the Deep Shade

Bungalow Heaven is located north of the 210 Freeway, between Lake and Hill avenues.  It is bordered on the north and south by Washington and Orange Grove boulevards.  Here you will find one of the largest collections of Craftsman homes anywhere in the United States.  Hundreds were constructed from 1905 to 1925.  The architecture reflected a movement away from an intricate Victorian design to a simpler structure in harmony with nature through the use of materials such as river rock and redwood shingles, and by including front porches and wide windows.  The neighborhood was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

    Theme for 2017

The theme for the 2017 Tour is “It’s All In the Details” and celebrates beautiful wood, tile, concrete and brick that skilled artisans used in Bungalow Heaven’s many characteristic Arts & Crafts-era, Spanish revival and English-style homes.

    Simply Heaven

The Bungalow Heaven trolley will once again offer 45 minute narrated bus tours of Landmark District architecture for $10 per person.  Also available for purchase will be, “At Home With Bungalow Heaven Cookies,” a cookbook featuring many of the most requested recipes for the home baked cookies famously provided along the tour route.  You can enjoy a chance to win beautiful Arts and Crafts related items at the silent auction and ticketed raffle at the entrance in McDonald Park.

More information on the tour or on ordering tickets can be found online at www.bungalowheaven.org or by calling (626) 585-2172.  Tickets are $25 per person if purchased in advance and $30 the day of the tour. Tickets, as well as maps and informational tour brochures, will be available at McDonald Park at the intersection of Mar Vista Avenue and Mountain Street.
