Located in the Burlington Arcade, Kimono no Kobeya is a boutique shop with the largest selection of authentic Japanese kimonos on this side of the Pacific. Mikko Nakatomi, a certified kimono dresser and traditional Japanese culture preservationist, opened the doors to her shop in 2005 to bring casual, ready-to-wear, formal, and traditional garments from Japan to Pasadena. Every visit with Mikko welcomes a world of insight into the intricacies of these special kimonos, along with a deep understanding of Japanese culture. Mikko only brings one of each color or style of kimono back from her trips to Japan, so every purchase is truly special. Around the boutique, explore Japanese gifts, tea ceremony utensils and more. Mikko also operates a salon, which she has had for over 20 years at the Burlington Arcade.
