Speak, Sweet Memory – September 13-14, 2019
Inspired by a true friendship, Speak, Sweet Memory is a play that tells the story of Mr. Tien, a vocalist who was born in an army courtyard in Beijing, and Mr. Wang, a TV producer who grew up in a military dependents’ village in Taiwan. An out-of-tune song, “The Past Can Only Be Savored in Memory” (往事只能回味), on the radio takes them back to their childhood memories. The men find that they enjoyed secretly listening to the radio programs and music shows transmitted in shortwave frequencies from the other side of Taiwan Strait when they were young. Through their performance and discussion, the two men discover that they have similar life stories and the feeling of a brotherhood that is alienated yet inseverable is born.
Note: The show will be in Chinese.
