  • Rare Performance of a Lost Art

    Spreading Love Fighting Cancer is a Taiwan American Charity Concert and Musical. The evening will feature a rare musical performance by Taiwan’s premiere Opera/Martial Arts and Acrobat troupe along with a concert, and a cultural fan dance. The performance will help raise funds for cancer research for cancer charities such as the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and the Dr. Susan Love Foundation Research for Breast Cancer.

    Journey of the Monkey King

    Making its American premiere, the Rom Shing Hakka Opera Troupe performs the ancient folktale Journey of the Monkey King. The troupe will showcase music, dance and high-flying acrobatics. Journey of the Monkey King is about the fight between good and evil, as well as serving a higher purpose.


    Tickets for Spreading Love Fighting Cancer can be purchased through Tickemaster or by calling 800-745-3000, prices range from $39 – $89. Tickets can also be purchased at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Box Office on Friday’s from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and three hours prior to the performance.     The performance runs 2 hours and 30 minutes with two 15 minute intermissions and is in English and Chinese.

    Driving Directions

    The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located in downtown Pasadena, off of the 210 freeway as well as the 110 freeway. Directions→


    Parking costs $13 per day for up to 16 hours, or $18 per day for in-and-out privileges. The subterranean parking structure is shared with the Sheraton Pasadena. The entrance is located on Euclid Avenue between Green Street and Cordova Street. Additionally, parking is available in several private structures around the convention center, these are operated by Paseo Colorado. More→

    Metro Gold Line

    Pasadena sits in the heart of the Metro Gold Line, a light rail train system that runs from East Los Angeles to Azusa. There are two train station within walking distance to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium:

    1. Del Mar Station is three blocks away and it takes approximately ten minutes to walk to the Civic.

    2. Memorial Park Station is four blocks away and it takes approximately eight minutes to walk to the Civic.
