Grau was one of the pioneering shops on Melrose Avenue in the 80s which helped make the Los Angeles street famous for fashion. While today, Grau Design is located at the historic Crossroads of the World in Hollywood, Principal Claudia Grau still primarily uses recycled clothing that is deconstructed and then reconstructed into her signature style. Her distinct look has been used in television shows and movies; if you were to dig through your VHS collection and look for video tapes of The Cosby Show, Moonlighting, Dharma & Greg, and Heathers, you’ll be able to spot Grau’s works.
The creative brainchild of Judie Mountain and Wayne Robbins, Mountain Robbins specializes in wearable art – these artist favor glass art, lampwork glass beads, and metal clay. Judie brings her experience in leatherwork, fashion, and jewelry design to the table – her creative style is inspired by indigenous people and third-world cultures. Wayne is a glass artist whose works are inspired by nature.
Dr. Elaine Maginn Sonne is Reiki Master and artist – her jewelry has a more metaphysical approach – it is inspired by her fascination with Astrology, Mythology, Paganism, and Native American spirituality. Dr. Sonne received her doctorate in Spiritual Psychology from the American College of Theology in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
