  • Panto Musical Theatre

    Beauty and the Beast: A Christmas Rose at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium is an updated version of the classic tale presented in the traditional British Panto style. The play features magic with a comedic twist, contemporary music, and dancing with alumni from “So You Think You Can Dance.” This creative team behind this production includes Tony Award-nomined director, Sheldon Epps; choreographer Mandy Moore (of La La Land); writer Kris Lythgoe (Peter Pan & Tinker Bell: A Pirates Christmas); and musical director Michael Orland (American Idol). A portion of the the proceeds from the production will be given to The Pasadena Playhouse Outreach and Education Program by Lythgoe Family Panto.

    Lythgoe Family Panto produces musical theater for the whole family, they are also known for television shows like American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.

    On-Stage Experience

    Golden tickets (additional $60) get children onstage during the production. Each golden ticket requires an admission ticket.

    Driving Directions

    The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located in downtown Pasadena, off of the 210 freeway as well as the 110 freeway. Directions→


    Parking costs $13 per day for up to 16 hours, or $18 per day for in-and-out privileges. The subterranean parking structure is shared with the Sheraton Pasadena. The entrance is located on Euclid Avenue between Green Street and Cordova Street. Additionally, parking is available in several private structures around the convention center, these are operated by Paseo Colorado. More→

    Metro Gold Line

    Pasadena sits in the heart of the Metro Gold Line, a light rail train system that runs from East Los Angeles to Azusa. There are two train station within walking distance to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium:

    1. Del Mar Station is three blocks away and it takes approximately ten minutes to walk to the Civic.

    2. Memorial Park Station is four blocks away and it takes approximately eight minutes to walk to the Civic.
