    Descanso Gardens is celebrating Spring the entire month of March. All month long Descanso Gardens will be hosting activities designed to showcase the wide array of flowers in bloom such as the iconic cherry blossom, fragrant lilacs and vibrant tulips. The activities include discovery stations, walks through the Japanese Garden, music, Origami and more.

    Activities

    Spring Bloom Walks | Spring Bloom Walks are available every Saturday and Sunday throughout March at 11 a.m and 1 p. m. The tours allow guests to stroll through the gardens and learn about cherry blossoms, flowering trees, and other seasonal favorites on these guided walks. There are 2-3 tours each time. No registration required. Free with admission or membership. Subject to availability.

    Origami Hands | Origami Hands are available March 3-4 & March 10-11, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. It allows guests to try their hand at the art of Japanese paper folding with help from experts. Free with admission or membership. No registration required.

    Eternal Transience | Sunday, March 25 at 1 pm Dr. Kendall Brown, professor of Asian art history and Japanese Garden expert will explore the diverse and evolving role of cherry blossoms in Japanese art through a focus on poetry and art, especially woodblock prints. Free for members; $10 for nonmembers.  Advance registration is required.

    About Descanso Gardens

    Located on 160 acres, Descanso Gardens features forests, streams, a lake, and a bird sanctuary highlighted by 80 acres of colorful flowers, including camellias, lilacs, and roses.  Descanso Gardens is an urban retreat of year-round natural beauty, internationally renowned botanical collections and spectacular seasonal horticultural displays.  Descanso Gardens welcomes 350,000 visitors annually. The principal collections include California native plants and oak woodlands; one of the largest concentration of camellia plants in the Western Hemisphere; a rose garden with specimens from all corners of the globe; and significant presentations of lilacs, maple trees, cherry trees and iris.
