    Taking place June 1st, 2019 at the Pasadena Convention Center is the 45th Annual Los Angeles Conference on Gifted Education. The main purpose of this event is to provide educators, parents, and the community with professional development activities and for meeting the academic and social-emotional gifted and high ability students. The theme for the 45th Annual Los Angeles Conference on Gifted Education is “the ability to thrive from equality to equity in gifted education.” Continental breakfast and snacks will also be served.

    The Greater Los Angeles Gifted Children’s Association

    The Greater Los Angeles Gifted Children’s Association is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to gifted education. They strive to provide training opportunities in the form of conferences in Los Angeles. All conference proceeds are reinvested each year into the conference for the following year. All guests who attend the Annual Gifted Conference will support the gifted professional development.

    Keynote Speaker

    Dr. Donna Ford (PhD) is a professor at Vanderbilt University and is one of the leading experts on gifted students. Dr. Ford is a well-known author of Recruiting and Retaining Culturally Different Students in Gifted Education, Reversing Underachievement Among Gifted Black Students, and Multicultural Gifted Education. Dr. Ford has been recognized for her work varying in different professional organizations that include Research Award from the Shannon Center, Early Career Award and Career Award from The American Educational Research Association, and more.

    Parking at the convention center is $15 per day for up to 16 hours or $21 per day for in and out privileges. The subterranean parking structure is shared with the Sheraton Pasadena. The entrance is located on Euclid Avenue between Green Street and Cordova Street. Additionally, parking is available in several private structures around the convention center, these are operated by Paseo Colorado. More info→

    Driving Directions

    The Pasadena Convention Center is located in downtown Pasadena, off of the 210 Freeway as well as the 110 Freeway. For detailed direction click here or visit Google Maps.

    Metro Gold Line

    The Metro Gold Line is a light rail train system that runs from Downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena. There are two train station within walking distance, (1) Del Mar Station is three blocks away, it is about ten minutes to walk to to the Convention Center and there is a small hill. Memorial Park Station is four blocks away, it takes about eight minutes to walk to the Convention Center and there are no hills on this route. Cost is $1.75 per person each way, students K-12 pay $1 each way.
