The biggest and best known of Pasadena’s annual events are the New Year’s Day Rose Parade® presented by Honda and the Rose Bowl Game® presented by VIZIO. Keeping with the tradition of “Never on Sunday,” the 123rd installation of
the pageant and the 98th football game will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012. If you’d like to attend, begin planning and make your reservations in advance. Tickets sell out early, and hotels in the city book up in anticipation of these holiday events.
ROSE PARADE® presented by Honda
The 5½-mile parade begins at 8 a.m. (PST) on January 2, commencing a 2½-hour procession of imaginative flowery floats, spirited marching bands, and majestic equestrian teams making their way along Orange Grove, Colorado, and Sierra Madre boulevards between sidewalks and grandstands teeming with an estimated 700,000 spectators.
Parade Seating
View from designated curbside locations along the route for free or buy tickets for grandstand seating. Grandstand tickets are available for purchase from February 1– December 31 from Sharp Seating Company, the official Tournament of Roses® ticket distributor, 626-795-4171, sharpseating.com. Tickets may also be available through other ticket brokers; please refer to the Rose Parade® section of VisitPasadena.com.
Parking
Advance reservations are highly recommended and available for parking of automobiles, buses, and recreational vehicles while attending the parade. Please refer to sharpseating.com or the Rose Parade® section of VisitPasadena.com.
Float Decorating
You can get involved in float decorating in two ways: Before the parade at three locations, you can watch as others decorate the floats, or you can actually participate in the decorating (schedules vary by location, and considerable waiting periods should be expected).
Post-Parade Float Viewing
Walk within a few feet of the floats to see them in close detail while they are parked along Sierra Madre and Washington boulevards. Fees apply.
