CHANTRY FLAT TO HOEGEE'S TRAIL CAMP
Angeles National Forest near Pasadena
From the 210 Freeway, exit Santa Anita Avenue in Arcadia.
Take Santa Anita north and follow Chantry Road six miles up the
mountainside to the Chantry picnic area. From the parking area at Chantry Flat, head down the paved fire road into the canyon. This is
about 6 miles roundtrip. This ends at the stream at the canyon
bottom. Cross the small bridge and turn left. The first half
of this hike takes you boulder hopping through the canyon, surrounded by
trees. Hoegee's Campground is about 2.5 miles upstream, requiring
one last stream crossing before reaching it. This is a good half-way point to stop and have lunch. Resume your hike by crossing the
stream again, just up from the campground. You will climb steeply
for a while, then the trail levels off.

EATON CANYON FALLS TRAIL
Angeles National Forest near Pasadena
From the 210 Freeway, exit Altadena Drive north to Mendocino;
turn right to Pinecrest; then turn right again. Park on Bowring and
walk through the gate to the trail. After you cross the bridge, turn right and swing back down under the bridge to start the hike. Only
2 miles roundtrip, there is considerable boulder hopping as you move
upstream toward the falls. Use caution in the rainy season, as you
could easily lose your footing. Mornings are the best time to do
this hike.

EATON CANYON PARK/EATON CANYON NATURE CENTER
Angeles National Forest near Pasadena
This area can be combined with the Eaton Canyon Falls trail for a
longer hike (approx. 4 miles roundtrip). Park in the lot at Eaton
Canyon Park and start your hike from there. From the parking lot,
head straight up the canyon. After a mile, you will reach a
bridge. Pass under the bridge and keep going to the falls.
During summer months, the canyon hike is virtually dry until you reach the bridge. During the rainy season, the stream runs all the way to
Eaton Canyon Park.
