LOVEBIRDS CAFÉ & BAKERY NOW OPEN AT THE PASADENA CONVENTION CENTER
PASADENA, Calif. – Lovebirds Café & Bakery opened inside the Pasadena Convention Center on November 1. Located on the corner of Green St. and Marengo, the café is open from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and during selected weekend events. The café is open to the public.
“We are pleased to welcome Lovebirds Café & Bakery to the Pasadena Convention Center,” said Doug Finney, director of convention & catering services for the Pasadena Convention Center. “Lovebirds has built a solid reputation by serving delicious, quality food for 25 years. Now our convention center attendees can enjoy the fine food that makes Lovebirds a San Gabriel Valley favorite.”
To celebrate the grand opening, two new menu items have been introduced: a chopped Italian salad and a lemon-breaded cod salad. Lovebirds also offers a coffee bar, a wide range of bakery items, and a large lunch menu featuring soups, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, and other side items.
Lovebirds Café & Bakery was founded in 1984 by brothers Jahanshah and Jahansooz Jomehri. Since opening their first store in Alhambra, the company has grown to encompass six stores. The Convention Center location is their third Pasadena store.
Lovebirds is known for its sandwiches, and it is the freshly baked bread that’s the star. The Jomehri brothers began baking their own bready daily in the 1980s, long before it was the trendy thing to do. They are now master bakers. “The bread definitely sets Lovebirds apart from other cafes and delis,” Finney added.
Since its inception, Lovebirds has made it a priority to hire people from all walks of life, including people with developmental disabilities. As a result, the café was recognized with a 2009 Henry Sheldon Award from the City of Pasadena’s Human Relations Commission; named the County of Los Angeles’ 2008 Employer of the Year; and named 2008 Employer of the Year from the Pasadena Mayor’s Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities.
“Lovebirds and the Jomehri brothers are dedicated to helping the community and its residents,” Finney offered. “The Pasadena Convention Center is proud to be affiliated with such a giving and civic-minded organization.”
The Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 E. Green St. The LEED Gold certified facility is available for meetings, conventions, trade shows, weddings, fundraisers, and other special events. For more information, call (626) 793-2122 or visit www.PasadenaCenter.com.
