ROCK ‘N’ ROLL HALF MARATHON RETURNS TO PASADENA
PASADENA, Calif. – Runners are preparing to lace up their shoes for the 2nd Annual Kaiser Permanente Rock ‘n’ Roll Pasadena Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, February 17, 2013. For those wishing to run a shorter distance, a Mini Marathon has been added. Both events start at the Rose Bowl Stadium at 7:30 a.m.
Runners will enjoy the sounds of live, local bands playing a variety of music along the course, providing both motivation and entertainment. Thousands of enthusiastic spectators and cheer squads will also line the course.
Both the 13.1-mile half marathon and 3.1-mile mini marathon finish at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium. Participants will pass numerous scenic landmarks along the way, including the Tournament House, Norton Simon Museum and more. The half marathon course will continue over the Colorado Street Bridge, through Old Pasadena and around Brookside Golf Course.
Following the half and mini marathons, runners and fans can celebrate with a concert by Far East Movement at the Finish Line Festival. Post-race festivities begin at 8:45 a.m. at the stadium and conclude at noon.
Prior to the marathons, on February 15 and 16, a free Health & Fitness Expo will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center. More than 60 exhibitors will showcase the latest in running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information, and more. Runners will also pick up their race packets here. The expo will be open to the public from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Pasadena Half & Mini Marathons will benefit CureMito!, a foundation dedicated to research, treatment and education of mitochondrial disease and functional disorders.
