GRAN FONDO GIRO D’ITALIA’S FIRST U.S. EXPO & RIDE TO BE HELD IN PASADENA
June 26th press conference will introduce ride to American cyclists.
WHAT: A press conference will introduce Americans to the popular Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia Expo and Ride, which will be held in Pasadena on July 21 and 22, 2012. Gran Fondos are long distance, mass-start cycling events that have become a tradition in Italy. Participation in the Pasadena event will be open to recreational and competitive amateur cyclists of all abilities. The first ever Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia held in the U.S. will begin and end at Pasadena City Hall on July 22. Participants can choose from three courses ranging from 25 to 83 miles. The expo, offering Italian merchandise, food and entertainment, will also be held at City Hall on July 21 and 22. Additional information is available at gfgiro.com.
WHY: For the first time, avid American amateur cyclists and fans can experience this exciting ride featuring challenging, scenic courses and a fun-filled Italian festival. Held annually, the Giro d’Italia professional ride is the world’s second most popular cycling event.
