Images of Latin American Nature
Visual Voyages: Images of Latin American Nature is an an art exhibition on view at The Huntington from September 16, 2017 to Jan. 8, 2018, in the Boone Gallery. It will explore how the portrayal of Latin American nature contributed to art and science between the late-1400s and the mid-1800s. Visual Voyages will feature more than 150 paintings, rare books, illustrated manuscripts, prints, and drawings from The Huntington’s holdings as well and loans from other collections (many of these works will be on view for the first time in the United States). Visual Voyages will be complemented by an array of other programs and exhibitions, including a sound installation by Mexican experimental composer Guillermo Galindo.
Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA
This exhibition is in association with The Getty’s Pacific Standard Time: Latin American and Latino Art in Los Angeles. Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA is a collaboration of more than 70 art museums across Southern California joining together to tell the story of the birth of the L.A. art scene. It explores Latin American and Latino Art, presenting a wide variety of important works of art, much of them new to Southern California audiences.
The Huntington is a cultural center surrounded by 120 acres of breathtaking botanical gardens and several art galleries. The site was originally a private estate belonging to railroad magnate Henry Huntington (namesake of The Langham Huntington and Huntington Beach). More→
