  • Monsterpalooza Returns to Pasadena

    Horror aficionados and the creative professionals who bring these scary creatures to life will convene at the Pasadena Convention Center in April for the annual Monsterpalooza. The show is for fans as well as trade, two hundred exhibitors will present live makeup demonstrations, celebrity meet and greets, and a Monster Museum exhibition.

    Monster Museum

    Visit the Monster Museum to view props from motion pictures and television shows, as well as installations by award winning artists.

    Monsterpalooza Theatre

    Attend unique presentations at the Monsterpalooza Theatre featuring actors and directors of the horror film genre, as well as screenwriters and special effects artists. Past presentations include An American Warewold in London, The Howling, Predator, Tremors, The Exorcist, and Return of the Living Dead. While we cant give away the lineup for this year just yet, check back in the beginning of the year for more details.

    Sideshow Collectibles

    Sideshow Collectibles’ is a modern day renaissance studio, specializing in licensed and original creations by artists and industry professionals. The often premiere new work at Monsterpalooza.

    Premiere Products

    Attend demonstrations for creating moster characters at Monsterpalooza. Demos are put on by Premiere Products, a makeup company that specializes in motion picture effects and supplies.

    European Body Art

    Watch as some of the industries most talented makeup artists demonstrate the art of specialty paint and airbrushing techniques using European Body Art’s products.

    Stan Winston School

    Stan Winston was a legend in the world of motion picture special effects, he was responsible for bringing to like fantastical characters like The Terminator, Aliens, Predator, the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, and Iron Man. His family continues his legacy at the Stanley Winston School of Character Arts where students can take online classes in all aspects of creature design. Prospective students can receive discounts for Stan Winston School’s online classes at Monsterpalooza.

    Pasadena Convention Center

    The Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 E Green Street, Pasadena, California 91101. Several buildings makeup the campus-style convention center. Monsterpalooza will take place inside the Exhibit Hall & Ballrooms building, it has a large curved entrance — it has a mirror-twin building called Conference Center located clear across the center plaza, that building will not be used for Monsterpalooza.


    The Pasadena Convention Center features a Starbucks in the corner of the Exhibition Hall & Ballroom building, you can enter Starbucks directly from inside the Exhibit Hall & Ballroom building, and there is also a street-front entrance on the corner of Marengo Avenue and Greet Street.     Parking at the convention center is $12 per day for up to 16 hours or $18 per day for in and out privileges. The subterranean parking structure is shared with the Sheraton Pasadena. The entrance is located on Euclid Avenue between Green Street and Cordova Street.     Driving Directions

    The Pasadena Convention Center is located in downtown Pasadena, off of the 210 freeway as well as the 110 freeway. For detailed direction click here or visit Google Maps.

    Metro Gold Line

    The Metro Gold Line is a light rail train system that runs from Downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena. There are two train station within walking distance, (1) Del Mar Station is three blocks away, it is about ten minutes to walk to to the Convention Center and there is a small hill. Memorial Park Station is four blocks away, it takes about eight minutes to walk to the Convention Center and there are no hills on this route. Cost is $1.75 per person each way, students k-12 pay $1 each way

    Westin Pasadena — Official Hotel

    Monsterpalooza’s official hotel is the Westin Pasadena, the hotel is three and a half blocks away from the convention center.     There are a several dining options to explore at across the street from the convention center at Paseo Colorado, or in nearby Old Pasadena (two blocks West) and the Playhouse District (3 blocks East).
