  • A Prairie Home Companion

    A Prairie Home Companion is a longstanding variety show that emphasizes on folk music. The show broadcasts across 700 public radio stations throughout the world; and while 3.5 million people tune in each week, a few hundred folks can see the show live while it’s being recorded. The show is based out of the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, however the show goes on the road every season.

    Chris Thile

    On October 15, 2016, mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile became the new host of A Prairie Home Companion. Chris was born in Oceanside, California where he learned, at age 5, to play the mandolin. He formed a bluegrass band called Nickel Creek and another called Punch Brothers; Chris also collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan and Edgar Meyer on The Goat Rodeo Sessions.

    Pasadena Civic Auditorium

    The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located at 300 E Green Street, Pasadena, California 91101, it is the centerpiece of the Pasadena Convention Center campus. The 3,000-seat venue is on the National Register of Historic Places and was designed in Mediterranean Revival architecture.

    Metro Gold Line

    The Metro Gold Line is a light rail train system that runs from Downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena. There are two train station within walking distance, (1) Del Mar Station is three blocks away, it is about ten minutes to walk to to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and there is a small hill. Memorial Park Station is four blocks away, it takes about eight minutes to walk to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and there are no hills on this route. More→

    Driving Directions

    The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located in downtown Pasadena, off of the 210 freeway as well as the 110 freeway. For detailed directions click here or visit Google Maps.

    Parking

    Parking costs $12 per day for up to 16 hours, or $18 per day for in-and-out privileges. The subterranean parking structure is shared with the Sheraton Pasadena. The entrance is located on Euclid Avenue between Green Street and Cordova Street. Additionally, parking is available in several private structures around the convention center, these are operated by Paseo Colorado. More info→
